Log Moulder

Norwood’s new Log Moulder 410 allows you to put high production, high profit capacity in your operation …

Custom Building Logs

Produce professional grade, build-ready planed, moulded or jointed logs – every time – every shape – every length – everywhere.

Large Diameter Finished Output

Massive throat clearance handles beams up to 24” x 24” (60cm X 60cm).

Long Length

Plane and mould beams any length. Because the Log Moulder works with your sawmill and runs on your sawmill, length isn’t an issue. Mill, plane and mould beams of any length by adding as many optional bed extensions as you need.

Plane, joint and mould full-length, full-size beams right on your sawmill with the LM410.

Here’s how …

  • The Log Moulder works with your sawmill – on your sawmill. Because it mounts right on the rails of your mill, you can plane, mould or joint your beams as soon as you’ve squared your log – without moving your log to a different machine. Two operations on one platform … quick, efficient, productive.
  • And because the Log Moulder travels on your sawmill bed, you can finish boards and beams longer and larger than traditional planer/moulders can handle.
  • With a frame and chassis built for maximum strength while allowing exceptional log control, the 410 puts you and the log in the right position to create perfect mating surfaces, time … after time.

How You Can Profit from LM410

Norwood’s Log Moulder gives you a world of wood-finishing possibilities …

Plane overlength lumber and large, heavy beams to a perfect smooth finish.
Precision-mould and joint for log-home construction.
Add customized flair to porch and terrace columns, balcony and staircase posts, and other beams and pillars in and around your home.
Craft unique furniture out of heavy, large-dimension wood.

Adapts to Many Sawmills

Norwood’s Log Moulder fits both Norwood’s LumberMate 2000 and LumberLite 24 sawmills. It also works on the LumberMate Mark 3 and Mark 4 models, and most personal sawmills made by other manufacturers. The LM410’s adjustable carriage wheels accommodate rails from 33” to 38” apart. **

* Electric motor available outside of Canada. Consult your licensed electrician before ordering to ensure that your electrical system can accommodate your electric-powered Log Moulder.

** Because the minimum distance from the cutter to the top of the sawmill bed rails is 4 5/8”, if your sawmill does not have raised cross bunks, you may need to build up your cross-bunks to finish boards measuring less than 4 5/8” thick. In all cases, the LM410 must be removed from the sawmill before transporting the sawmill. Optional adapter kit for some sawmill makes required.

Features

Wide Cutterhead

Same precision-machined 16” (410mm) cutterhead found in our industrial 4-head planer/moulder. The motor assembly moves laterally to plane beams wider than 16”.

Solid Construction

The LM410’s backbone, solid 7/16” (10mm) steel plate, means high structural strength. Its chassis is 3/16” (4mm) sheet steel with durable industrial powder-coat.

Quick Knife Change-Over and Adjustment

Change knives quickly and easily through the easy-access hatch – a set of locking and adjusting screws and a 4mm Allen key are all you need. A simple adjusting block ensures the knife edge is precisely where it needs to be.

Safety First

Left and right hand operator grips with built-in throttle trigger tells the operator what is happening and makes sure it happens only when it should.

Low-Shock Drive

Belt-drive transmission provides smooth operation and minimizes the shock and “chatter” of direct-drive mechanisms. When belt changing is required, you’re back to work in 10 minutes. The belt is tensioned in seconds by a single, easy-access tensioning ring between the motor and motor mount.

Low-Maintenance

The powder-coated chassis means superior rust-resistance compared to ordinary wet-coat paint. The cutter bearings are sealed for maintenance-free operation, as is the drive motor. Just lubricate the transmission chain, sprockets and trapezoidal threaded bars, clean out wood debris…and keep cutting.

Patented Design

The Log Moulder’s accurate, high-efficiency designs are protected by pending patents. Nothing else delivers this level of performance at such an affordable price.

Plenty of Power

The 9hp (270cc) Honda recoil-start engine delivers plenty of smooth, reliable power. Or, special-order the Log Moulder with a 3-phase, 16amp electric motor.*

Chip Extraction

The outdoor-operated gas-powered Log Moulder doesn’t need additional chip extraction equipment. Norwood offers several optional chip extractors for the indoor-operated electric-powered model.

Easy-Maintenance

Daily maintenance takes less than 15 minutes, including start-up and shut-down, with all maintenance points exactly where they need to be – on top, off the ground.
